Produced by the Black Seeds’ guitarist Mike Fabulous, Solid Ground oozes with the band’s distinctive flavor - from the heavy-hitting, Karma-inspired "Slingshot" and darker reggae/dub-infused tracks like "Send a Message" and "The Bubble," to infectious reggae gems like "Take Your Chances," "Love Is A Radiation" and "Come To Me," and the funk/soul filled "Rotten Apple" and "Afrophone." The North American release adds three bonus tracks including the funky soul instrumental "Year Of The Pig" and a dub version of "Strugglers."
The new EP from the band behind DUB SIDE OF THE MOON and RADIODREAD showcases five original songs and a previously unreleased dub from the RADIODREAD sessions. These songs have long been fan favorites during the Easy Star All-Stars live shows, including the title track, which has been in the band’s set since their very first shows in 2003. The songs—all written by members of the band—give a lead vocal to each of the band’s featured vocalists. A limited number of physical copies of this EP have been printed and will only be available here and at shows. Produced by Michael Goldwasser and the Easy Star All-Stars.
The third studio album by The Black Seeds was originally released in 2006 and featured some of the band’s biggest radio hits in their native New Zealand, including “One By One” and “Cool Me Down,” which hit #26 on the charts in that country. It spent 5 consecutive weeks at #1 in NZ and achieved over double-platinum status. This was the last record to include band member Bret McKenzie, later of Flight Of The Conchords and The Muppets.
